i certainly know that there are things i believe in that might require more. neil: bill gates said i pay 10 million. i could pay $20 million. i would frame it a little bit differently but how much tax to people paid today in various income brackets? how most of the top 1% how much to the top 1% make? how much does the top 1% pay? we have government data on that. we could take a look at that. neil: we know the 1% pay a lot of the taxes. we know this is disproportionate and a wrap that you get on the left, they are not giving nearly as much as they can and should, given how much they control the wealth. let me give you an example. we could look at the top .1% butte we are just using data that comes out of the irs and census. the top 1% i m sorry, .1%, which is about 150,000 tax filers in the u.s. pays an average about eight makes
pay down the dead. what democrats are saying is that we have to level the playing field and that we should use whatever amount of money that will be gained through this well tax to help those who were still struggling to get by. that s the proposal. what you think greg? greg: if you want an end to any quality, and embrace socialism but you will also havo opportunity. so inequality rises and falls in the capitalistic economies so people move up and down the income brackets. i i think i ve probably been in seven different income brackets in the last 15 years. there were years when i was making nothing. that s how works in america. you can make $20,000 a year and suddenly you re making 200,000 and you could be in the top 5% and fall out of that and so that s how it works. that s what inequality what the inequality equation is faulty and wrong for.
of the price, same for the product here in the united states so call the drug company executives whatever you want. but what they are doing involves corruption in my view, that is price fixing. it involves unbelievable greed where they re making, as i mentioned, the top ten companies made $69 billion in profits and the top three insulin companies made $14 billion in profits and people are rationing one out of four people are rationing insulin and people are dying and that is unacceptable in the united states of america and if i m elected president, trust me, they won t get away with that. you recently want to give student debt and covering 45 million people and senator cory booker had criticism and you won t be on the stage with him so i want to give you a chance to address it. here is senator cory booker. it is canceling debt for people of higher income brackets, going into jobs or
people want. melissa: i would say in the income brackets that we are talking about, if the government is supplementing with refunds and with help from the government, that health care plan. it would be taxpayer paid for. melissa: it depends on the details. melissa: caught on tape. violence is radical left activists attack a conservative journalist, leaving him bruised and bloodied. republican lawmaker taking action in response. that s next. [bleep] [bleep]. [bleep]. [bleep]. [bleep]. [bleep]. oh, hey jeff, i m a car thief. what?! i m here to steal your car because, well, that s my job. what? what?? what?! (laughing) what?? what?! what?! [crash] what?!
we have seen that cycle after cycle. 2018 did see more young voters turn out so we don t know if that was a one off or not. i think, you know, the economy and increasing opportunity for young people is where the republican party needs to go. obviously, we have got to make the case that we have been solving addressing and solving major problems. look, there are two different approaches between the two parties. there s a bright line contrast. between the direction that trump is taking the country and the direction that the democrats are proposing so i think we have to make arguments to the voters. if you want the chances to be increased to get a good job, to begin to pay off college debt or buy a house, i would argue that the tax cuts are good for wealthy people and for working people. reducing every income bracket. it really depended with the income brackets because i think while you saw it of course benefit some members of the wealthier class we did see people who are working class
