Guala Closures publishes its 10th annual Sustainability Report

Luxembourg – Guala Closures Group has announced the publication of its tenth annual Sustainability Report covering 2020. It reveals that the company has achieved or exceeded its goals in many areas of environmental impact reduction, despite the disruption caused by the pandemic. The report covers improvements in carbon footprint levels, new eco-design guidelines, increased use of recycled materials and the introduction of a Diversity & Inclusion Charter.

Walker Morris has said it is reviewing its diversity processes after it confirmed it had awarded a training contract to the Managing Partner s child.
The Leeds firm, which has 230 fee-earners, picked Managing Partner Malcolm Simpson s offspring as one of 15 trainees who will be joining the firm in an upcoming cohort.
Simpson has occupied several senior positions at the firm including heading up Walker Morris’s US practice and chairing its international committee. He was a partner in the firm s commercial team for 17 years before winning the top job in 2018.
Simpson Jr was lucky enough to obtain a work experience placement at Walker Morris in 2014, and a spot on a vacation scheme this February before securing a sought-after training contract.
Region appoints new director of diversity, equity and inclusion

Durham Region has appointed a new director of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Allison Hector-Alexander, a senior director, advocate and policy professional, will join the region effective March 15.
Hector-Alexander has worked in anti-racism training, anti-discrimination and oppression, equity, human rights, and accessibility in organizations within the not-for-profit and education sector, according to Durham Region CAO Elaine Baxter-Trahair.
Hector-Alexander joins the region from Durham College, where she held the role of director of the office of equity, diversity and inclusion.
In this role, she had oversight of the college’s diversity and inclusion services, the Ontario accesses and inclusion program, the sexual violence mandate, the First People’s Indigenous Centre, and orientation and transitions programs for
