Connecticut Includes Wagering Revenue in Next 2-Year Budget

Connecticut Includes Wagering Revenue in Next 2-Year Budget © PA As new wagering options like sports betting and iGaming inch closer to possible reality in Connecticut, Gov. Ned Lamont has laid out his goals for the future. Lamont on Wednesday released his two-year budget and indicated that he expects $50 million in revenue from online sports wagering, iGaming and iLottery. That shows optimism on his part that the new state legislature and Connecticut’s two tribes will work out an agreement to expand gambling in the state, according to the Hartford Courant. After years of battling back and forth in Connecticut, it now appears the sides are moving closer to an agreement due to the economic need for revenue brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. The tribes have long maintained they have exclusive rights to offer gambling in the state.
