NCDC and partners conduct simulation exercise for Ebola Virus Disease
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has continued to play her public health role as the National focal point for the implementation of International Health Regulations (IHR) in Nigeria. In line with the IIHR Monitoring and Evaluation Framework and our organisational strategic plan, the NCDC works closely with the World Health Organization (WHO), Public Health England (PHE) and Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) and other partners to strengthen Nigeria’s emergency preparedness, resilience and response (EPRR) through regular simulation exercises (SimEx). With this, we have continued to fill the gaps identified following the first and mid-term Joint External Evaluation (JEE) of IHR capacities conducted in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the main healthcare provider in the country, has ensured that all the healthcare services including medical emergencies continue in a safe environment despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic.
Doctors and nurses across HMC trauma and emergency departments continue to offer lifesaving care to all people with medical emergencies. The Ambulance Services are safely transporting patients with medical emergencies. Also, walk-in patients are received and are triaged by the nursing team and guided to appropriate area and level of care.
A separate area is designed and dedicated to care of patients suspected of COVID-19 and it helps in patients getting the appropriate care by physicians and nurses, said Dr. Mohammad Shuaib Afzal, Assistant Chief, Emergency Department at Hamad General Hospital.
