FINAL plans to build 84 homes in Aberdour have been approved by Fife Council. Cala Homes got the go-ahead last week from the central and west planning committee to develop five hectares of agricultural land south of Main Street. Planning manager Steven Cooper said: “We have been working hard to ensure that the proposal meets the requirements of local buyers whilst engaging with the local community to address concerns. “Although it has not been possible to accommodate all of the suggestions made by the community council, we have been able to make some changes to the site design through this engagement.

The chief operating officer at the UK’s third largest port operator concedes that he’s never seen a time like this but adds: “We’re essential workers at the frontline of the transport sector and we’ve shown a huge amount of resilience”. With good, careful business planning a n d r e s o u r c e management, there have fortunately had very few cases of Covid 19, he says. “We’ve kept the supply chain intact, whether it’s chemicals, food, or medical supplies. We also supplied materials such as plywood and timber to the Louisa Jordan Hospital in Glasgow through the Port of Grangemouth.”

Picture: Theo Currie By Kristy Dorsey Forth Ports has acquired Angus tug firm Targe in a multi-million pound deal to create a marine services business “of scale” along the east coast of Scotland. Set up in 1991, Targe employs 90 people and was previously owned by the family of managing director Tom Woolley. Edinburgh-based Forth Ports has acquired the entire share capital of Targe for an undisclosed multi-million sum. Based in Montrose, Targe owns nine vessels, including five tugs providing dedicated towage in Dundee, Aberdeen and Peterhead. It is also contracted to run three further tugs at the Hound Point marine terminal on the Firth of Forth.
