Lowincome families will never see a dime of benefit from the Child Tax Credit because they simply do not earn enough. Instead of improving the credit and placing it within reach for working families, republicans would do the opposite under their proposal. While the credit would be expanded to 1,600, the restrictive eligibility requirements that prevent lowincome families from claiming the credit would still remain in place and the new quote unquote, Family Flexibility credit created under this bill would expire after only five years. Many families have enlisted military members with more than two children would continue to be ineligible for the full credit and rural families as well are left behind because many do not earn enough to qualify for the full credit. Adding insult to injury more than 4 million low income immigrant workers would no longer be able to claim the credit for their u. S. Citizen children.
