Two voters above 97 being led to the polling booth at Beluru in Madikeri
MYSURU: Voting in phase 1 of the gram panchayat election was peaceful across the southern districts. Voting passed off without any major glitches. Fear of the pandemic did not deter voters from participating in the polls for the rural bodies. Several voters above 90 years also cast their vote.
In all the districts, GP election voting has been planned in two phases. However, in Chikkamagaluru, voting is held in a single phase because of Datta Jayanti that will commence from December 27.
In Mysuru, voting was held in five taluks including Hunsur, KR Nagar, Saragur, HD Kote, and Periyapatna. In neighbouring Chamarajanagar, Gundlupet and Chamarajanagar taluks witnessed voting today.
