instead of really dealing with serious issues that they, themselves, have created. and it s a monster now. because they have these huge congregations, in l.a. now diseases breaking out at these huge camps and they don t know what to do about it. and the public programs that they have implemented aren t working. and so they are at the end of the rope in terms of dealing with this and they are just going on to vaping and they will be banning cereal and cokes and the size of your drinks. jesse: tent on the middle of the sidewalk. if you are a business owner you complain, they say the city ordinance says anybody can live anywhere. there has to be consequences for that. jesse: you have to get rid of ordinances that say you can have encampment on the middle of the public sidewalk. greg: have the left of catcher tactics. being a horrible person for moving people. jesse: that s why a liberal mayor in one these cities, they are the ones that will have to take charge and show political
we don t have one in place in california. we had two republican mayors in new york that have really address this problem. giuliani and bloomberg, they have improved the shelter system here. we have an california hand-weaving, throwing money at it, but as long as you have 4,000 people living in these zones and last year, melissa, 59,000 almost people on the streets in l.a. county. melissa: let me ask you, one of the big on the president brought this up mental health issues. how much of this has to do with mental health? the president s 100% right on this. one-third of all homeless people have mental health issues. whether it s chronic schizophrenia, severe depression, they have untreated mental health issues. in l.a., though, another third are partly working. they have part-time jobs, living in their cars. they have children with them. they are subject to garbage. they are subject to routes on the street. they don t have anywhere to take a shower. they don t have any food. m
