30 past the hour. the world is rallying in sport of ukraine amid the russian invasion. here in the u.s., where there are more than 1 million ukrainian americans, thousands took to the streets to demonstrate in support of ukraine s sovereignty. joining me now is nbc s senior national correspondent, kerry sanders in doral, florida. kerry, good morning. what a show of solidarity we re seeing across the country. reporter: good morning! yeah, and it s a remarkable response from americans. we re in doral in a warehouse here. this is the global empowerment mission. and you can see what they re doing here is they re preparing items that will be sort of personal kits for those who are refugees coming out, things like socks, other items here that they have see what this is. this is a dehydration relief kit. the whole idea is, as you see, upwards of 500,000 have now
natasha chen joins us in doral, florida. look at that grieving father. any answers for him for all of them this morning? yeah, poppy. investigators here at miami-dade police headquarters are working on this around the clock. police do want to point out something in that surveillance video that you showed. not only do you see the three gunmen getting out of the car using assault rifles, handguns to fire at this crowd standing outside of a lounge where a scheduled concert was happening. by the way, some of those people did fire back. notice meese said that there is a driver of that car as well to help them get away so quickly, like you said, within seconds. they re looking for the three gunmen and that driver. you know, you mentioned this grieving father who interrupted the press conference. i want to show you some video from the day before that press conference when we were at the scene of the shooting. that same father, clayton dillard, jr., with extended family, showed up to that sc
be one step closer to finding the three suspects accused of shooting into a crowd at a miami area banquet hall that killed two people and wounded 21 others. the surveillance video helps tell the story here. this is not the surveillance video of the shooting but this is the police discovering the vehicle used in that shooting, later dumped in a canal. here s the shooting itself. just alarming. they hop out of the car. see the weapons. appear to be semiautomatic, long rifle and we now know what they were able to do in just seconds. right. ten seconds. that s it. that s how long it took for those masked gunmen to kill two people and to wound 20 others. three who remain in critical condition. natasha chen is on the story for us in doral, florida. what can you tell us? well, poppy, we re outside the miami-dade police headquarters. the investigators have been working on this around the
didn t find to be inappropriate. you heard him get pressed on that phone call at the end of this briefing. why was it placed in that super secret server and he made the case we have nothing to hide because we released the contents of the call. so it was a fiery debate that began where you mulvaney announcing that they would hold the g-7 in doral, florida, essentially saying that he won t profit off of it so nothing even appropriate, but that undoubtedly will get a lot of scrutiny as well. and he said the president isn t going to profit off of that. did he offer any supporting data or information or path or evidence as to how that he would prove that to us? so we said will you release the paperwork to prove that and he said likely we won t but he did leave open the possibility that perhaps they would release some paperwork at the conclusion sf the summit. his argument is that people will be essentially staying there, the president won t be reaping any of the financial benefits.
president requested that they stay there. later, the vice president s office said that they made this decision on their own. now, the fact is people do what donald trump wants whether he says it explicitly or not. we know that from the last three years of this presidency. people know what he wants and they do it. number two, all of these things that keep coming up, the staying at the presidential resort, vice president mike pence staying at the presidential resort, donald trump pitching the g7 at his resort in miami in doral, put these altogether and democrats are going create or trying to create a convincing case that the president is profiting off the government. all of those things put together put into an impeachment investigation, impeachment inquiry could be a powerful tool for democrats. that s what they believe at this point. remember, as congress comes back, democrats are inching closer and closer to launching a large impeachment probe and they re going to vote this week on de
