LHC dismisses petition seeking JIT on TLP protests National April 16, 2021 LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking an order for the constitution of a joint investigation team (JIT) in the matter of recent protests by the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and also slapped a fine on the petitioner. Advocate Imran Javed Qureshi on behalf of his organization – Legal Awareness and Protection Centre filed the petition. The lawyer argued that the protests after the arrest of TLP leader Saad Rizvi caused immense problems for people and the police also failed to fulfil their responsibility. After hearing initial contention of the lawyer, the chief justice observed that the petition was baseless. The CJ asked the lawyer who would be held responsible for the loss of life and property caused by the protests. LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking an order for constitution of a joint investigation team (JIT) in the matter of recent protest by Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and also slapped a fine on the petitioner. Advocate Imran Javed Qureshi on behalf of his organisation – Legal Awareness and Protection Centre Law Firm - filed the petition. The lawyer argued that the protests after the arrest of TLP leader Saad Rizvi caused immense problems to the people and the police also failed to fulfil its responsibility. Plea seeking formation of JIT over TLP chief's arrest dismissed

The court dismissed the plea with costs of Rs0.2 million LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday dismissed a petition, with a cost of Rs2,00,000, that sought the formation of a joint investigation team against the arrest of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Hafiz Saad Rizvi. The petitioner, advocate Imran Javed Qureshi, representing a law firm Legal Awareness and Protection Center (LAPC), had prayed to the court that a JIT be formed against the arrest in broad daylight. The complainant had sought an answer as to why police made video clips of the arrest, with the same going viral on social media. Why, he asked, the followers of TLP were incited through such clips, causing them to block the roads. The blockages perturbed the commoners, he maintained.
