The bill seeks to provide all journalists access to medical and health benefits as well as hazard pay and additional insurance coverage, especially for those on the field.
'The saying 'journalism is not a crime' does not work here. It's the opposite. We [journalists] are afraid of everything. We have to worry about everything," says Ma Khine, who has been in working in news for eight years now.
“Silencing valid voices through harassment and intimidation or through arbitrary website blocking weakens discourse and democracy and puts free speech at risk.”
