The houses Impeachment Inquiry is accelerating as attempts to defend the president seem to be growing more extreme. After weeks of denying a quid pro quo with ukraine, President Trump and some Senate Republicans are now trying to justify one. Perhaps, a sign of just how much evidence a piling up and how far
republicans are willing to go to defend the president. Today, we got even more evidence. House investigators have begun releasing transcripts of their depositions, both paving the way for public hearings and
government of ukraine to investigate the bidens and what took place there. now, all of the information from all the intelligence sources, all of the documents, all of the witnesses that provided testimony during the impeachment process in the house all came to the same conclusion. there was nothing going on with the bidens in ukraine. right. i should point out you have supported and have endorsed the vice president, correct? that is correct. i think he s the right person at the right time to deal with the issues of trying to put our government back on track, trying to heal the extraordinary harm that president trump has created dividing this country. and i want to ask you about the president, because he has been extremely active tweeting and retweeting, attacking speaker pelosi in the last few days. what do you think of the impact of obviously this very aggressive approach by the president on the speaker as she
there. ed: trying to dictate to the senate. holding back the articles she thinks she is in charge. brad blakeman the former deputy assistant to george w. bush was on with katie saying come on, give me a break. watch. nancy pelosi has no leverage over the senate. mitch mcconnell did not nose his way into the impeachment process in the house. she has no standing to do that in the senate. six of the jurors, senators are running against the president themselves. hardly impartial. they can delay the trial until november 4th. the day after the election and let the american people decide who our next president will be. for the senate mitch mcconnell can sit back and say we are happy with you not turning the articles over. keep approving judges. maybe flip some circuit courts. go back to record numbers again in 2020. judges confirmed nominated by president trump. so, if this is what you guys want to do withholding the articles, then we are fine with just continuing our business in the sena
need for an actual trial in the senate. brad blakeman served as assistant to george w. bush and advisor in the bush-cheney campaign. he joins us thought. seems like nancy pelosi is trying to gain some leverage here and control what the senate is going to do. you argue the senate has a lot of options here. they sure do. and nancy pelosi has no leverage over the senate. mitch mcconnell did not nose his way into the impeachment process in the house. and she has no standing to do that in the senate. the senate does have options. as a matter of fact, they have many options. the first option would be after the charges are read in the senate against the president, his side can make a motion to dismiss, which is a procedural vote that only requires a simple majority of 51 votes. and there is no need for a trial. the charges don t hold up to the constitutional standard. abbreviated trial. when they have heard enough. they can vote or have a full trial with many witnesses and prolonged. i don
radio. i attribute trump s recent run of good polls to the correct perception of him being the underdog in a legislative chamber controlled by democrats. as this moves to the senate, trump will no longer look like the underdog. professor, how does that dynamic shift for the president and the republicans as this moves to the upper chamber? well, when we saw the impeachment process in the house, it wasn t like the republicans had a lot of substantiative objections to what was going on. they objected to the process, they objected that it was rushed. they objected that as the minority, they were denied certain rights in terms of how the process went forward. and while there was a lot of exaggeration, there was at least a little bit of grain of truth to that. when we move to the senate, this is going to be mnl itch mcconnes show. and the degree to which mcconnell runs the impeachment trial or sets the rules for the impeachment trial, in such a way that it seems like the deck is
