and msnbc political contributor david jolly. joyce, i want to start with you because we re talking about a filing that is 46 pages long. at the heart of this, is this an impeachment inquiry? how much does the exact wording matter? this is just nonsense from the republicans. it sounds like the last ditch effort to thwart an investigation. they ve been trying steadily to keep the democrats from accessing parts of the mueller investigation that aren t public, including the grand jury material. look, it s clear that house democrats are in impeachment investigation proceedings. they voted thursday morning for a series of procedures that permits them to undertake that investigation. so this argument is really a distinction without a difference. and what we re left with is a doj that says, you know, doj, bob mueller, can t indict a sitting president but now they re telling congress, well, you can t have the fruits of that investigation, you can t
typical strategy. think of the oj case was we don t know much about the o.j. simpson case if they ask everybody but they remember mark furman because that was the defense attorney s strategy. attack the investigator. the facts of the case, what happened, the evidence recovered meant nothing because they wanted to shift attention away, diapered attention over to what is it about the investigation? that is what we are seeing now, smoke and mirrors. at the end of the day, through the initial impeachment investigation proceedings we will find more information. it will be interesting to see the tax returns and interesting to hear why the president asked don began to make up information. those things will come out but it will take time. daymac folks are interested to see what comes out of the inspector general s report as well on the other side of this equation. thank you for your time.
