arraignment for former president trump. good morning, everybody. hope the weekend was grand. dana has the day off today. welcome back to our friend from washington aishah. aishah: historic week here in new york city. this is america s newsroom. right now the former president is getting ready to depart palm beach, florida, for new york city. that is where he will be arraigned on a reported 34-count indictment related to hush money payments made in the run-up to the 2016 election. the former president flies to new york at noon eastern. tomorrow at 11 eastern is arriving at the courthouse. aishah: the hearing to last 15, 30 minutes. after that he will head back to mar-a-lago and give a televised address at 8:15 eastern. bill: the nypd says it has been put on high alert. officers putting up barriers and closing streets. we ll see whether or not that s necessary in the end. they get ready to move a former u.s. president in and out of that courthouse swiftly and safely.
they are out there and we need to get focused and get serious on this. it is ridiculous we can t be transparent with the american people what s happening and what are we doing to solve this? aishah: i want to ask you, geraldo. he says he won t step down. clearly the gop in the house have their sights on an impeachment. what is better, going through an impeachment or stepping down? all this impeachment baloney. all it does is bring no help at all to the southern border. we need a system. we need a wall. we need an appropriate order to deal with the fact that the world is on the move. there are millions of refugees south asia, africa, caribbean, the world is on the move. the united states must now be prepared for this part of the 21st century. aishah: thank you both for joining us this morning.
