After a brief moment of fireworks early in the day Saturday, the last day of former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial went largely as expected. Trump was acquitted once again and will not face constitutional consequences for his role in inciting a violent insurrection that killed five people.
In the end, seven Republicans Sens. Richard Burr (N.C.), Bill Cassidy (La.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Mitt Romney (Utah), Ben Sasse (Neb.), and Patrick Toomey (Pa.) joined the entire Democratic caucus and the final tally was 57-43 in voting in favor of convicting Trump. Democrats managed to get a few more Republican votes on their side than had been expected, but still fell 10 votes short of the two-thirds needed to convict the former president.
WASHINGTON — Dire harm from Donald Trump’s false and violent incitements will vex American democracy long into the future unless the Senate convicts him of impeachment and bars him from future office. . .
that the rnc made to chuck schumer over this. how are voters supposed to take this seriously when chuck schumer is taking a serious one that i guess you say the basic tenets of the trial like the trial that will take place in the senate. they include the calling of witnesses. it would be unprecedented for the united states senate in an impeachment trial that will decide on whether the president is. andrew johnson s impeachment, 41 witnesses. president clinton s impeachmen., witnesses who have never been spoken to.

that is when the democrats have decided to begin this process. shame on them for doing so. there ought to be some consideration of what s best for the country. dana: allows thought, you are out in texas for the holiday for thanksgiving, how much were people talking about impeachmen impeachment? i didn t hear about it at all and granite, i was in austin, texas, so i had a little bit of it diversity they are, austin very liberal and blanco very conservative. very little change is going to be achieved by whatever either side does in this, people have made up their minds and the democrats are not going to be able to get a bipartisan consensus, i bet you more democrats in the house will vote to retain the president then to remove the president and i think the same case is going to be there in the senate, more democrats vote to keep the president in office than vote to remove him. dana: you heard it here first, love starting my week with you, thank you.
