Until her 2016 Senate victory, the current Vice President Kamala Harris was the California attorney general. Even Jerry Brown as part of a political comeback was attorney general before becoming governor again in 2010. With potentially big cases, the job offers the chance for national stardom.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday became the first president to be impeached a second time. The House voted 232 to 197 to impeach the president, with 10 Republican members joining all of the Democrats.
