Ohio City software company that targets colleges and universities is sold to Washington firm
Kate Volzer
Ohio City-based Wisr, which provides colleges and other educational institutions with software, is being acquired by EAB, a Washington, D.C.-based education research company.
The first software from Wisr, a company launched in 2016 by co-founders John Knific, Kris Ciccarello and Kate Volzer, focused on engaging students with alumni, with the goal of easing the transition from college to the work world. Its services have expanded, including adding software that helps new, incoming students to connect to upperclassmen, which helped schools decrease the number of students who enrolled but ended up going elsewhere. It also supplied a way for incoming students to access information such as how to register for classes.
