S’wak set to receive 380,000 vaccine doses per week from June Khairy 28 May 2021 / 20:22 H. - Bernama KUCHING: Sarawak will receive 380,000 doses of vaccine every week from June till August, says National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin. He said with the supply, Sarawak is expected to be the first state in Malaysia to complete the Covid-19 Immunisation Programme with the vaccination of 2.2 million people. According to him, the commitment to deliver the vaccine supply had been agreed upon during his meeting with Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg today. “With the assurance we gave to the Sarawak State Government today, we will see Sarawak achieve the target (of completing the immunisation process) by the end of August,” he said in a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Bernama KUCHING: All schools in red zones in Sarawak will be closed for 14 days beginning tomorrow following a spike in COVID-19 cases, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg. He said the government took this measure because infections had been reported in school areas and could spread to students, parents and teachers. “In order to protect the health of children and the local communities, the Sarawak government decided to close all schools in red zones,” he told a press conference on enforcement of the standard operating procedure (SOP) at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today. As of yesterday, 18 districts in the state were under the red zone, with new daily cases hitting 508.

Covid: Sarawak to vaccinate 929,435 individuals under phase two

KUCHING: A total of 929,435 individuals are being targeted to receive the vaccine under the second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in Sarawak beginning from Monday (April 19), said state Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing. He said the second phase would kick off in the Sibu division on April 19; followed by Kuching, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Kapit, Mukah and Miri on April 23; Samarahan, Bintulu and Limbang on April 24; and Sarikei on April 30. “The second phase targets those in the high-risk groups, namely those who have comorbidities and senior citizens aged 60 and above. A total of 13 vaccine dispensing centres (PPV) will be operational statewide,” he told a media conference today.
