7,620 individuals have received first Covid-19 shots under phase two of national immunisation plan in Johor

JOHOR BARU: More than 7,500 persons have received their first vaccination jabs under the second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in Johor. State health and environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said that the second phase involving senior citizens, people with disabilities, and those with chronic diseases, started on April 29. “Until Monday (May 3), some 7,620 individuals have received their first doses under this phase with 4,362 elderly persons, 3,047 people with chronic diseases, as well as 211 persons with disabilities, and others, ” he said here on Wednesday (May 5). Vidyananthan also added that some 48,497 frontliners have been inoculated after completing their second dose under the first phase of National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme here.

Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said the programme would be carried out in 21 administration centres, comprising nine Health Ministry’s (MOH) facilities and 12 public facilities. He said with the existing facilities, the state government expected to be able to inoculate 4,000 people per day. “So far, the management is organised and the MOH has not faced any staff-related problems as we also encourage participation from volunteers in this second phase to assist the people at administration centres,” he said in a news conference after observing the immunisation programme at Dewan Muafakat Johor Adda Height here, today.
