leadership where it will take that legislation up and give us a chance to vote on it. the clear message needs to be sent to people across the world both adversaries and allies that we stand with freedom and democracy. we stand with israel and against hamas and israel s attempts to eliminate the terrorist threat that represents on their border every single day and destabilize the middle east on a daily ba basis. that is what the international criminal court ought to be focused on. not on israel. john: the president s executive order on immigration was partly done under section 212f of the immigration and nationality act, which is ironic. that is the same subsection that president trump used to enact is immigration ban. biden has treated the same ground that he has. he says he needs to do it now because the goodwill of american people is wearing thin. that raises the question. we just talked to congressman pat ryan about that.
section 212 f of the immigration and nationality act. it blocks certain migrants from coming into the country if they re deemed, quote: detrimental to the interest of the united states. unquote. former president trump used section 212 f to impose the muslim ban, which president biden reversed in his first week in was o. needless to say the move marks a significant shift for the president. is he facing a lot of bipartisan pressure though to take stronger action on the southern border which many voters sees a one of his weakest spots. a fox news poll last month shows 64% of registered voters disapprove of his handling of border security. the white house has tried to pin the blame on republicans for tanking the senate s border bill earlier this year saying they have been looking at other options. regardless, the president s critics see this expected order as nothing more than a political stunt. it will likely be met with legal challenges. president biden will reportedly sign this order to
the processing of migrants seeking asylum. ainsley: griff jenkins is live at the white house with the latest for us, griff? griff good morning. we have yet to see the text of this executive order. don t know what time it may be signed today but the associated press already reporting some of the expected details. take a look here. they say that it is expected to show that it would shut down the border once daily encounters hit 2500 and that it would only reopen once that number declined to 1500. also reportedly the president is using a section of the immigration and nationality act called 212 f to enact it. by the way the same authority trump used to ban some muslim countries. here s what it says, quote: whenever the president finds that the entry of any aliens or any class of aliens into the united states would be detrimental to the interest of the united states, he may, by proclamation and/or for such period as he shall deem necessary suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of
