World Music Day concert in Kohima on June 21

KOHIMA Nagaland is all set to celebrate World Music Day on June 21 at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow in Kohima from 5 pm onwards. Organised by the Musicians Guild (MG), the lineup for the celebration featuring various artistes from across the state include Alobo Naga and the band, Orange, Imliakum Aier and the Electric Cool Kid, KL Pamei, Azi Rudy, Fifth Note, The Gluttones, Wishes and Dreams, Renbeni Odyuo and band, and LC Sekhose. The ‘dance battle’ is a new addition to this year’s celebration. The MG collaborated with the Nagaland Dance Fiesta and is organising a one vs one open style battle-‘battle of Best’, which will begin prior to the main concert. On-spot registration can be done for the participants interested to compete. During the launch of poster for MG’s eight edition of World Music Day, President Musician Guild Mele Pucho on Thursday said, the celebration is self-sponsored and artistes are performing for free in celebration of the day. ‘

Our Correspondent Kohima, June 18 (EMN): With a glittering and solemn ceremony, the Musician Guilds presented the MG Music Awards at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA) located at Jotsoma, Kohima on Saturday evening. Nominees, performers and fans packed the hall with cheers and thunders of claps to make the night a memorable one for the winners. The judges for the awards were Shalmali, an Indian pop sensation, song-writer and composer who won best female playback singer at the prestigious filmfare award for the song Pareshan and at the screen award; Times of India Awards and Stardust Awards and is also one the judges for Sony Entertainment Television’s India Idol Junior for auditions. Music Guilds: Second edition of Northeast music awards on June 18

Our Correspondent Kohima, June 16 (EMN): As part of the second edition of the Musician Guilds’ red carpet event, a music award ceremony would be held for the musicians of Northeast India. The event is slated to be held on June 18 (Saturday) at RCEMPA in Jotsoma, Kohima from 5 pm onwards. This was announced during a press conference held at The Heritage addressed by Musician Guilds, President Melekhoto Pucho;  Advisor, Yanpvuo Kikon and members Mengu Suokhrie, Kevisa Khamo; Metet Jamir and others. Kikon said that the music award aims to establish an institution in Nagaland that recognises artistry of high standards, to acknowledge artiste in writing and composing original songs and to encourage more creative people in the state who are musically inclined inorder to have a repository of originality that is not only traditional but contemporary spreading across different genres.
