Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Idukki, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram are expected to receive heavy rains till Tuesday.
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has asked people to remain vigilant and advised people to avoid crowded places and dilapidated buildings. Several districts have opened up helplines for people affected by rainfall related problems.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate to heavy rains in the district on Sunday. The weather department also warned about thunderstorms and possible lightning events with the rains. The mercury is also dropping due to the rains signalling the arrival of winter.
The IMD has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Sunday, which is a warning to ‘be aware’. Light rainfall is likely to continue on Monday and very light rainfall is likely on Tuesday.
According to the India Meteorological Department, rainfall or thundershowers have been observed at most places over West Uttar Pradesh since Wednesday morning. It said Etawah observatory recorded 140 mm rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 am Thursday
