PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (The National, Jan. 26) –Oil and gas developer Oil Search has expressed confidence that the National Government will make funds available for the construction of a road from the oil rich area of Gobe in the Southern Highlands province with Gulf.
The delay in the construction of the Kikori to Semberigi Road has caused frustrated landowners to confront officials at the site last week.
Although production has not been affected, both Gulf and Southern Highlands landowners have warned that they would prevent ships that are loaded with crude oil from leaving the Kumul terminal if the National Government did not respond favorably within one week.
