Isle of Man Bank replacing roof on historic Athol Street Branch Wed, 26 May 2021 Isle of Man Bank is replacing the roof on its historic Athol Street branch to help safeguard the registered building for generations of customers to come. The building, at the junction of Athol Street, was designed by celebrated architect Marshall Mackenzie of Aberdeen and first opened its doors on June 9th 1902. Over the years the building has taken its toll of traffic fumes on the outside and thousands of customers in the marble-walled banking hall complete with glass domed ceiling. The roof was in need of repair and due to its registered status, special slate has been used to ensure the integrity of the building.
