While Dr. Mehmet Oz has said it's good for the U.S. to show it elects Muslims and it's good for Muslims to see a fellow Muslim achieve success, some say many in their community don't know he's Muslim because he doesn't talk about it.
While some in the Muslim community aren’t aware Dr. Mehmet Oz is Muslim, others suggest that faith doesn't matter “if you're not on the right side of the issues.”
Oz, whose parents emigrated from Turkey, calls himself a “secular Muslim” and has said that the spiritual side of Islam resonates with him more than the religious law side of it.
