Rigged podcast puts state police crime lab scandal under spotlight
Jamie Folk had volunteered at the maximum-security prison in Walpole, MCI-Cedar Junction, for two years, getting to know the stories behind the men imprisoned there, their lives and who they were.
In 2012, when the Massachusetts drug lab scandal broke and it was discovered drug lab chemist Annie Dookhan had lied about testing drug samples, putting more than 20,000 legal cases in jeopardy, Folk said it hit him emotionally.
“It really spoke to me,” said Folk, 44, of Boxborough. “I knew a lot of people who were affected by the lab.”
Folk then researched the drug lab scandal and eventually started a podcast called “Rigged” with co-host Ilyas Rona and frequent guest, Christopher Post, both Boston lawyers.
