President Muhammadu Buhari has given his approval for the reorganization of the agencies under the Ministry of Aviation in accordance with the most recent National Assembly legislation that was recently gazetted and to which he gave his assent.
The Directors-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Engr Akin Olateru; the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, Prof Mansur Matazu and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Musa Nuhu, are to run the remaining course of their tenures in line with the Acts setting up their respective agencies.
Hundreds of passengers at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos State trekked to various terminals to board their flights on Monday following a warning strike by aviation workers. The workers protested the non-implementation of conditions of service and the planned demolition of agencies’ offices in Lagos. As early as 4:00am, the four unions blocked the MMIA access roads, stopping vehicular movements along the busy airport road, Daily Trust reports.
