Macomb, Ill.- The Macomb Police Department has identified the person killed, as well as the suspect in a weekend shooting. According to a news release, Macomb police responded to a call of shots fired at an off-campus party in the 500 block of North Johnson Street at about 1:55 AM Saturday. Police believe that an altercation began and gunfire erupted as a result. Ten people were wounded, six of them being Western Illinois University Students, and transported to McDonough District Hospital. 26-year-old Jerman Beathea of Chicago died as a result of gunshot wounds. 23-year-old Donell Williams of Macomb was identified as the suspect. Williams was arrested while in possession of a firearm, as well as a felony amount of drugs which led to the armed violence charge. Police say that the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming and additional arrests may be made.

Police have yet to reveal the deceased's identity, but police say they are not a Western Illinois student. Macomb police were able to identify a person if interest in the case, who has been arrested and charged with Armed Violence.
