A man serving time in an Iowa prison for drug trafficking is facing charges in Illinois after authorities allegedly linked fentanyl he sold to the death of a Thomson woman.

A 21-year-old correctional officer in Henry County was arrested this week on two counts of Custodial Sexual Misconduct. Trayton Jones of Toulon was arrested on Monday, April 18, by the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigations on the two counts, which are Class 3 Felonies. Online records indicate that he's been additionally charged with two counts of Official Misconduct, also a Class 3 Felony. Few details are known but on Friday, April 15, the Henry County Sheriff's Office requested that State Police investigate allegations of sexual misconduct by Jones. The State's Attorney in Henry County approved the charges and bond was set at $50,000. He made a bonding hearing on Tuesday, April 19, in which a public defender was also appointed. Jones will be back in Henry County Circuit Court on Monday, April 25, for a preliminary hearing.
The incident occurred when a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office correctional officer was transporting 55-year-old Fredrick Goss to the courtroom for a jury trial.
