The Illinois legislature is in a holding pattern, as negotiations on a budget continue more than a day after Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the General Assembly’s Democratic leaders trumpeted they’d reached a deal.
A day after Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Democratic lawmakers announced a budget agreement, a revised version of the state spending plan moved a bit further along, passing the Illinois Senate late Thursday.
The agreement included a summary of top-line spending in fiscal responsibility, education, fighting poverty, health and human services and economic development.
