The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) conducted raids at multiple locations in Rajasthan as part of an ongoing investigation into a money laundering case related to alleged illegal mining. The searches are currently underway in Jaipur, Udaipur, and Nagaur.
The Jharkhand high court has for the second time rejected the bail application of Pankaj Mishra in the illegal mining case in Sahibganj. Mishra, who was the constituency representative of former CM Hemant Soren, has been in custody since July 20, 2022, in a case filed by the enforcement directorate (ED) for his role in alleged money laundering. The HC had also refused him bail in February 28, 2023 after which Mishra moved the Supreme Court.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) asked Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to appear before the agency between January 16 and 20 in connection with the “illegal mining case”.
