COLUMBUS, Ind. - Two Columbus teens were arrested early Friday following a report of shots fired led to the discovery of drugs, scales, and nearly $10.

16-year-old charged with Friday night DUI accident

Just before 11:00 pm on Friday, January 13th, Galesburg Police responded to a vehicle accident call near the intersection of North Henderson Street and Home Boulevard. Upon arrival, a 16-year-old boy was identified as the driver and was evaluated by paramedics. Another 16-year-old male passenger told police another car cut them off when turning southbound onto North Henderson Street forcing them into oncoming traffic and onto the median. When police made contact with the teen driver, the boy was emitting a strong alcoholic odor. The boy was informed he was under arrest after a field sobriety test indicated signs of impairment. The teen provided a preliminary breath sample for police which read his BAC as .182. The teen was transported to the Public Safety Building and processed at the Knox County Jail before being released to his father. The boy was charged with DUI A1 and DUI A2. His passenger was charged with Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and released to his mother.
