After a year of avoiding gatherings even among extended family, travelers are once again planning safe and socially distanced getaways. Wanderlust is finally being satiated as coronavirus vaccinations continue to reach more arms.
While leisure travel took a major hit during the worst of the pandemic, many would-be celebrations were also put on hold for months on end. If your family has been waiting to gather for a small-scale graduation party, notable anniversary, or wedding celebration beyond the courtroom, now is your time to put last year’s travel credits to use and book a destination celebration.
One of the new Ilikai Villas at the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort.
The beginning of May marked the unveiling of the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort s newest addition to its lineup of accommodation options, the vista-blessed, amenity-laden Ilikai Villas.
The very first weekend saw four of 19 new villas booked, but resort management expects the new product to book up quickly based on both pre- and post-pandemic trends. We have 11 existing villas that are two-, three-, and four-bedroom that are either oceanfront or oceanview, and they are very popular, said Andrew Sutrisno, property marketing and communications manager. Typically during the summer season and festive end of the year, they are fully booked with multigenerational families and other large groups, and it appears that demand for that type of accommodation is only growing.
