Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 10) The Philippine National Police is looking into reports of armed strangers knocking on doors in some Misamis Occidental houses.
Misamis Occidental is currently trending on Twitter following rumors of a group of people believed to be cult members wandering in the province, claiming they would knock on doors in some households at night and kill whoever opens the door.
The issue was touched during a virtual briefing on Saturday, where PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana said authorities are now gathering information to confirm the rumors.

Philippine authorities are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man forced to perform nearly 300 squat exercises after officials say he broke local COVID-19 curfew rules last week.
Darren Manaog Peñaredondo, 28, was apprehended by village watchmen on April 1 in General Trias City, south of Manila, while he was buying water after 6 p.m. The curfew lasts from 6 p.m. until 5 a.m.
Reichelyn Balce said her husband was ordered to perform the exercises with others. Her husband had a heart condition and could barely walk when he got home the next day, she said.

Published April 8, 2021 9:58am Bayan Muna lawmakers have filed a resolution urging the House of Representatives to probe the death of a curfew violator allegedly due to excessive punishment in General Trias, Cavite. In filing House Resolution 1697, Representatives Carlos Isagani Zarate, Eufemia Cullamat and Ferdinand Gaite said the Committee on Human Rights should look into the incident where the victim, Darren Peñaredondo, was allegedly forced to do around 300 rounds of a pumping exercise as punishment for violating the curfew. Three days after he was apprehended and made to do the physical activity, Peñaredondo started having seizures and was rushed to a hospital where he eventually died.

MANILA: Philippine police said Wednesday they are investigating the death of a coronavirus lockdown violator who was forced to do a hundred squat-like exercises as a penalty for breaking curfew.
Police have punished more than 10,000 people for breaching a 6:00 pm to 5:00 am curfew imposed on Metro Manila and four provinces bordering the national capital region last week to curb soaring infections.
Darren Penaredondo, 28, was detained Thursday night after going out to buy water in General Trias city, south of the capital, his wife told AFP.
