The leader of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, the umbrella/apex body of the Yoruba self-determination struggle, Professor Banji Akintoye has stepped down. The General Secretary of the association, Tunde Amusat, disclosed this in a statement obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday. According to the statement, Akintoye has handed over the baton of leadership to his former deputy, Wale Adeniran. Adeniran resigned from the executive of the organisation in November, citing matters of principle as the reason for his resignation.
