Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, on Saturday, warned traditional rulers in the state against causing and fomenting unnecessary trouble over the appointment of chiefs in their various domains.
Akeredolu handed this warning in Ikare Akoko during the official presentation of the instrument of appointment and staff of office to Oba Adeleke Adegbite, as the new Owa-Ale of Ikare-Akoko.
Speaking on behalf of Akeredolu, the state Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said the government would not hesitate to deal with any traditional ruler or community head involved in any act of lawlessness.
He advised any of the traditional rulers that were dissatisfied with any decision on chieftaincy matters to approach the court to seek redress rather than taking laws into their hands.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has threatened to deal decisively with any traditional ruler in the state that engages in any act of lawlessness.
Akeredolu said this at the official presentation of instrument of appointment and staff of office to Oba Adeleke Adegbite, the new Owa-Ale of Ikare-Akoko.
Recall that some people were killed and properties destroyed during a bloody clash over the Olokoja chieftaincy title in the town.

Mr Akeredolu gave the warning on Saturday in Ikare Akoko at the occasion of official presentation of instrument of appointment and staff of office to Adeleke Adegbite, the Owa-Ale of Ikare-Akoko.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the stool of Owa-Ale of Ikare-Akoko became vacant after the demise of Oba Samuel Adegbite on Sept. 1, 2020.
The governor, represented by his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, said government would not hesitate to deal decisively with any traditional ruler caught engaged in acts of lawlessness.
