The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has renamed its main building to the Nandan Nilekani Main Building in recognition of the chairman of Infosys philanthropic support of the institute, which included a donation of Rs315 crore ($38.5m) last month.
Around 1,200 undergraduate, about 1,000 postgraduate and 300 PhDs students participated in the event held on Tuesday in the convocation hall at the institute's Powai campus.
The inaugural event also witnessed a symposium that brought together thought leaders and researchers in technology and healthcare from the hospitals, government, academia, and industry.
