Holders Denmark were held to a draw as the main round of the
International Handball Federation Men’s World Championship continued
at a tournament being co-hosted by Sweden and Poland.
Croatia narrowly missed the chance to hand Denmark a rare IHF Men's World Championship defeat as a last-second Luka Cindrić full-court shot just went over Niklas Landin's bar to ensure their opening main round encounter ended with 64 goals shared – 32:32.
By avoiding defeat this evening, Denmark extend their World Championship unbeaten run to 23 matches – their last defeat coming at the 2017 IHF Men's World Championship in their last 16 match against Hungary.
There is a famous saying in sports: "You are only as good as your last result'". For Croatia, at IHF Men's World Championships, that result is their worst ranking in 14 appearances – 15th.
Those appearances have seen them as ever-present since 1995, and they collected five medals – one gold (2003), three silvers (1995, 2005, 2009) and one bronze (2013).
