Suspected herdsmen kill Man O’War member in Oyo

A member of the Man O’War organisation was reportedly killed on Monday by suspected Fulani herders along Igangan/Iganna road, Iwere-Ile, in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The deceased, Oluwole Oke, said to be in his 30’s was a Commander of the voluntary paramilitary organization in Iserin, Igboora.
The incident that led to his death was said to have happened when Oke took his fiancée who came visiting, to her tow, but was stopped along Igangan to Iganna road, Iwere and shot.

Police, Amotekun, hunters arrest bandits in Igangan

COMBINED efforts of local hunters, Amotekun Corps and the Nigeria Police have led to the arrest of eight bandits who mounted illegal roadblocks at Igangan, in Oyo State.
The policemen from Iganna Division were said to have combed Budu Uberu, off Ofeegun village via Igangan and got the suspected robbers arrested.
The hoodlums were among other 23 suspected criminals paraded by the Oyo State Police Command, Eleyele, Ibadan at the weekend.
While parading the suspects at the State Police headquarters, the State Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, said, “On 2nd May, 2021 at about 1000hrs, a group of men attempted to dispossess motorists along Elekokan/Iganna road of their valuables, an action that was repelled by officers attached to Iganna Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with operatives of Amotekun Corps, causing suspects to flee with gunshot injuries, leaving behind a locally ma

Farmers have been under serial attacks in all Southwest states, mainly Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo, fuelling fear of acute food shortage if the state governments do not intervene proactively, THISDAY has learnt.
Across the geo-political zone, findings revealed, farmers are abandoning their farmsteads, plantations, orchards and processing factories amid the increasing spate of armed invasion, kidnapping and destruction of farmland by herdsmen.
Oyo, for instance, has become the epicentre of banditry and kidnappings with over 30 persons, especially farmers abducted at different agrarian communities in Ibadan, Fiditi and Ibarapaland Local Government Areas (LGAs).
