Hassan honored for elevating the study of global modern art

April 5, 2021 Salah Hassan, Distinguished Professor of Arts and Sciences in Africana Studies, has been elected as the 2021 Distinguished Scholar by the College Art Association, the largest and oldest scholarly and professional association in the field of art history. The honor was celebrated with a special session at the CAA 2021 Annual Meeting in February. Salah Hassan Hassan, an art historian, art critic and curator, is an expert on African and African Diaspora art history and visual cultures. He focuses particularly on contemporary art and modernism from comparative perspectives. “Salah Hassan’s scholarship and curatorial work have been deeply formative in bringing recognition to the study of modern and contemporary African and African diaspora art,” said Iftikhar Dadi, associate professor and chair of the Department of History of Art. “As a result of the sustained efforts of a small number of scholars, foremost among them Salah Hasan, this field is now among the most

February 2021 - New Wolverhampton date for British Art Show 9 - University of Wolverhampton

18/02/2021 Wolverhampton will now host British Art Show 9 (BAS9) in January 2022 after new dates for the touring exhibition were announced by organisers after consultation with the partner cities. The event – which is the biggest touring exhibition of contemporary art in the UK – will take place in the city between 22 January and 10 April 2022. Wolverhampton was due to host the opening of the exhibition in March 2021 however, due to the continuing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions, the dates and order of the tour have been rescheduled. British Art Show 9 will now open in Aberdeen in July 2021. In Wolverhampton, British Art Show 9 will take place at Wolverhampton Art Gallery and the University of Wolverhampton School of Art.

Pollack. “The Klarman Fellowships provide Cornell with a regular supply of the sparks that ignite new thinking and new research, while providing these exceptional early-career scholars with a springboard to great careers.”
