The number of people at Luther Special Care Home in Saskatoon who have died after contracting COVID-19 has risen to nine.
A post on the LutherCare Communities website on Thursday afternoon updated the death toll, as well as the number of active cases among residents, which has dropped to five.

Twenty-four staff who work at the long-term care home have tested positive, but not all of them contracted the virus at work, the post said.

An outbreak with two cases was declared on Thursday at the La Loche Health Centre.

It’s the same long-term care home where at least two cases were confirmed in April as a surge in cases in La Loche made it one of Canada’s worst outbreaks at that point in the pandemic.
The previous outbreak was declared on April 17. Nearly a month later, it was declared over on May 16, after 28 days had passed without a new positive case.
