The president’s promise was contained in a document titled ‘Heads of State Call to Action on Education Financing Ahead of the Global Education Summit’, signed as a form of commitment at the just concluded education summit in London. Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina quoted Buhari as saying: “We commit to progressively increase our annual domestic education expenditure by 50 per cent over the next two years and up to 100 per cent by 2025 beyond the 20 per cent global benchmark.”

A Nigerian cleric, Rev. Idowu Babatunde says money does not guarantee the sustainability of marriage, NAN reports. Babatunde, the Overseer of Four Square Gospel Church, Wuse District, quoted the Bill and Melinda Gates divorce case in his sermon on Sunday. He made the example in the sermon to mark the 25th wedding anniversary and 60th birthday of Pastor Dickson Ailemen. Ailemen, a retired Deputy Comptroller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), is the Kuje Zonal Superintendent of the church. Babatunde, in his sermon, explained that marriage, the first institution created by God, had been under attack by the devil. He noted that Bill and Melinda Gates would not have parted ways after 27 years of marriage if money was the key to a lasting marriage.
