people are cheating. and the faa in 2013 abruptly changed its hiring practices. they had roughly 3,000 college graduates who had gone through the faa designed program at colleges and community colleges across the country to become air traffic controllers. took those 3,000 people and through them away and they ll hire anybody off the street. the key test you have to pass is a personality test with incredible questions. like some of the questions are, the number of high school sports you participated in. that s one. it s multiple choice. how would you describe your ideal job. what do these questions have to do with looking at a radar trying to figure out if the united flight is going to crash into the flight? we asked that question of the faa. they say this is a validated test. professionally validated. then you have to ask the question why did they throw out the 2014 test and go to a new test. none of this makes sense.
been renewed ten times in the last four years. at what point should the government kay enough of these? well, the unemployment rate has gone down from 10% to 7%. look, i sympathize with the 1.4 million americans who may be affected by this. i know a couple of them. it s very tough to lose a benefit but we have evidence, including alan krueger who was once president obama chief economic adviser. he wrote a paper in which he said, you know, if you extend unemployment benefits too long, people don t cast their net widely for available job us. they want their ideal job. they want the job they had before. the longer you do that, the longer you postpone the day of reckoning, there s still atrophy. one of the things we know, if you re unemployed for two or three years, you lose your edge and a lot of employers figure that out. and therefore, you become less
