bill to spend $600 million to help skurp the border. trace gallagher live in our west coast news hub tonight. what exactly would this money and this bill do? mainly, shepard, spend $600 million putting more law enforcement on the ground. we re talking about 1500 border patrol agents. a lot of those agents we ve taken and formed a strike force that can go ahead and form critical strikes along the border and it would have more money to hire more atf agents, dea agents and to put more u.s. marshalls along the border and the money would also help put more unmanned aerial vehicles up in the sky. those are the vehicles they use to kind of use surveillance along the border. here s the democratic senator from new york, chuck schumer talking about this bill earlier. listen. we re announcing a tough smart $600 million emergency border security package that will provide immediate relief to the border without increasing
reporter: well the problem was when the plan to deploy the national guard took place it was created so that it wouldn t happen in a vacuum. it s a ramp up, a protection essentially for when the border patrol adds an additional 1200 guards men, plus about a thousand new ice agents, dea agents as well, other like atf agents, federal officers. i think it really jeopardizes the deployment of the national guard at this point. you know, it s deplorable that with everything they are doing over in the senate that they wouldn t at this time realize that we have to protect the u.s. citizens, particularly southern arizonans. bill: what do you think is pinned it? reporter: i eye it s politics. i think that has a lot to do with it. i serve on the armed services committee, there is a lot going on with the united states military right now. when we authorize the national defense bill i think about the hundreds of billions of dollars that goes to protect our interests and country.
