The interstate is closed at the U.S. Highway 20 interchange in Idaho Falls to Idaho Highway 33 near Roberts. The closure began shortly around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. A high wind warning is in effect across most of eastern Idaho. Winds from 35 to 45 mph with gusts around 60 mph are expected throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts up to 70 mph are predicted across the Arco Desert and the INL north and east toward Idaho Falls and Rexburg.

The city of Idaho Falls received the first report of a problem around 11:10 p.m. on the 1400 block of Lindsay Boulevard. A driver reported that a power pole was on fire and a power line across I-15 had the potential of falling. The Idaho Falls Fire Department and Idaho State Police responded to the area. The power line came down across the interstate, near Teton Stage Lines, and ISP shut down I-15.
