When the City of Portland joined a request to review a Supreme Court ruling that framed how governments could enforce homelessness laws, advocates argued that the city should instead build the housing that people need.
James “Dick” R. Staples resigned as Bonners Ferry mayor Friday, Sept. 22, due to the possibility a family member may receive a job at the city, creating a conflict of interest and violating Idaho nepotism law. However, Staples said he still plans to run for the position in the upcoming election, for which he is unopposed and will be sworn in as mayor in January 2024.
