plane crash. the improving weather conditions off the coast of indonesia. the search for wreckage from flight 8501 is taking on new urgency. abc s muhammad lila has details from indonesia. reporter: investigators have found what they say is the biggest part of the plane yet, 32 feet long, along with four more bodies. and a controversial new theory saying weather likely triggered the crash and that icing could have broken the engine on the plane because of cooling. when you talk about icing, certainly engines on an airbus do not ice up. and secondly, you don t have an icing situation that would be a hazard to a plane like this. reporter: it s now over a week since the plane with 162 people on board literally fell from the sky. but the facts so far don t provide many clues for why it happened. what we do know a week after the plane disappeared from radar
a mechanical malfunction? i m very skeptical with the data still. when you re talking losing 40,000 feet or dramatic amounts of altitude, it s impossible to me, which amounts of altitude, it s impossible to me. which means that the data if it was coming from the engines there s a possibility that that data was corrupted, maybe by an icing situation, even though we re saying that it was clear air. we don t know. i m talking about a situation from the engines itself. because the engines have as we talked during the break have a similar system to the airplane itself. the pitot tubes which were in a different part of the plane though, correct, responsible for the crash of air france flight 447. they contributed to the crash. you re saying the dramatic changes in direction could have happened because the flight crew what so busy dealing with something else.

good morning. good morning. as one storm pulls away in the northeast, we re watching another storm pummel the minute west and it will bring some snow to some areas. it s also going to bring some severe weather. look at how warm it is down across texas right now into the mid-60s. it is going to warm up significantly later on today. that s going to help spark some very strong storms, especially across central texas. so, we ll watch out for the potential for hail and lightning and strong gusty winds as well. we ll see strong winds across western nebraska. because of that we do have blizzard warnings already posted and several winter storm warnings and advisories up and down areas like the rockies and up into minnesota as well. you can see that s where the snow is falling. also an icing situation across portions of northeastern south dakota, across central minnesota and through central and northern wisconsin. that is going to be an area that is going to be very treacherous for driving la
