demonstrators break out, we ll bring it to you as soon as we can. meanwhile, it s 45 minutes past the hour. here at home, we re dealing with wicked weather that s continued all week. rob marciano waking up to bone-chilling temperatures there, as well. hey, rob. reporter: good morning, guys. we ve moved a little farther south from northeast ohio yesterday. and it s colder. and you know that this cold air mass is intense and doesn t want to go away now we re in the middle part of december, you re not getting a whole lot of help from the sun. the cold air is in place and now you ve got some gulf of mexico moisture. louisville, lexington, nashville for a little time will get some freezing rain and icing conditions. and tomorrow morning, certainly going to be dicey and icy here to say the least. let s talk about current temperatures and what it feels like. the windchill feels like it s below freezing in places like in indianapolis, certainly in minneapolis it s below freezing. 4 degrees
well to get the emergency personnel ready to assist anyone who may need it. ice accumulation from the storm caused a lot of power outages as weearlier. hundreds of thousands of people without power and the dangerous possibility of branches falling due to the ice accumulation. in chattanooga, they are watching the weather to make sure any icing that to occurs overnight are taken care of. we have seen the trucks treating the road. with the rain, they worry about the icing conditions and anybody out there driving in this. julie: oh, boy, not a good sight. marianne silber, thank you very much. to texas now, where mother nature is doing serious damage. this is someone s backyard. following a recent mudslide there after a lot of heavy rain. the erosion has gotten worse. the people living there say they fear their house was going to be next to go. they stopped paying the
freezing. more importantly, the dew point was approximately 35 degrees as well. when you have dew point and temperature meeting like that, it s likely you had diminished visibility conditions and fog and mist and drizzle. we are now combining that with a northeast wind. that brings in moisture from the ocean and the mountains lift up the air, and the air cools as it goes up and at altitude it s likely this pilot may have encountered icing conditions. when the kentucky/tennessee area in the blue ridge mountain area this area can develop severe icing very rapidly, and although the aircraft is a known icing aircraft, it is designed to only spend sort periods of time in icing, and so it may be that the
statement and we are not in a position to confirm the results. there was an air strike that we took against a senior leader and we are assessing the results. when we know more we will talk. no ground forces involved? no. this was an air strike. civilian casualties. no indication of collateral damage as a result. thank you so much. wishing you a happy, peaceful new year. thank you very much. let s bring in nbc meteorologist bill karins about before the crash and the weather for the search. thank you very much for being with us. let s talk about the weather at the time of this incident. we don t know what happened to the plane, but we have been talking to some of your colleagues about how extreme the weather could be if they were trying to fly through an extreme storm and hail and other icing conditions. that s what we will find out.
