The head of the CDC says Michigan should shut things down amid a massive surge in coronavirus infections.
Rochelle Walensky said more vaccines aren t the answer, something Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been asking the White House for.
Walensky told a White House pandemic briefing that the vaccine would take too long to have an impact. She suggested Michigan return to the shutdowns of last spring and summer.
Whether that s a politically feasible option in a state where the shutdowns drew extreme backlash remains a big question.
