Salisbury repeated as the 2A girls basketball state champions with a 48-39 victory over Seaforth on Saturday. While some key players were back from the Hornets' 2022 championship, the 2023 team was largely different.
The Salisbury Hornets' girls basketball team was in control for the vast majority of its third round matchup with T.W. Andrews in the NCHSAA's 2023 2A state playoffs. However, T.W. Andrews fought back to make it a two-point game with 1.8 seconds left. Nijayah Townes of Andrews got a steal with one second left and took a good shot at the buzzer that dropped just short of the rim. Salisbury won by a score of 55-53.
